Crossing a field

Hace un tiempo estuve blogueando y me encontré con una entrada sobre unas fotografías de un señor llamado Vincent Bousserez, que me llamaron mucho la atención.

Sin embargo, en el blog no había mayor información, y al ser tan buenas las fotos, me di a la tarea de averiguar más sobre ellas, quién era el fotógrafro y el porqué de ese trabajo.

Le contacté y le pedí autorización para poner las fotografías aquí en el blog. Además de permitírmelo, me escribió sobre su trabajo. Eso me ha alegrado muchísimo y quiero compartirlo aquí con ustedes:




I was born in 1973. I live and work in Paris. I was deeply attracted by drawing and painting which i often practiced in artistic centers (i was 12 when i joined my first artistic center, in Fresnes, near Paris). Even if my professional choices conducted me to work in advertising, my passion and my numerous stays abroad allowed me to develop my "third eye". At 23 years old, during a long stay through Moroco, i painted a lot and discovered deeply photography for the first time. I brought back several sketchbooks and watercolours and had my first show in the Espace Broca, in Paris. As a self-taught, the years spent to practice drawing and photo gave me the opportunity to sharphen my sense of composition and contrast to eventually catch the decisive moment.
Nací en 1973, vivo y trabajpo en París. Estaba profundamente atraido por el dibujo y la fotografía que practicaba a menudo en centros artísticos (Tenía 12 años cuando me incorporé a mi primer centro artístico, en Fresnes, cerca de París). Aunque mis elecciones profesionales me condujeron a trabajar en la publicidad, mi pasión, y mis numerosas estancias en el extranjero, me han permitido desarrollar mi "Tercer Ojo". A los 23 años, durante una larga estancia en Marruecos, pinté mucho y descubrí profundamente la fotografía por primera vez. Traje de vuelta varios cuadernos y acuarelas y tuve mi primera exposición en Espace Broca, en París. Como un autodidacta, los años dedicados a practicar pintura y fotografía me dieron la oportunidad de agudizar mi sentido de composición y contraste para finalmente capturar el momento decisivo.


Today i still work in a marketing agency, being creative director, managing a 9 people creative people. I also work in free lance as art director (working on brandguidelines, logos, etc for different compagnies). Photography and personal graphic design take also a big place in my life, every night, every morning before going to work, and the week-ends! I'd say i am hyperactive! I think if i hadn't to sleep sometimes, i would use my nights to create more!... But i know i can't continue like this, for different reasons, and the first one is that i have been dad for 5 months, and i want to have more time for Lucie, my dear daughter and Bénédicte, my fiancée! So i know what i want : i feel so alive creating my own art, i feel something growing inside me and i know that i want to leave from my art, my creations. I have ideas and ideas in my mind, and i want to make them real! So, here are my "plans" for the next year: change my life and really live from my art.
Hoy aún trabajo en una agencia de publicidad, siendo el director creativo, manejando a 9 personas, personas creativas. También trabajo en free-lance como director de arte (trabajando en Brandguidelines, logos, etc. para diferentes compañías). La fotografía y el diseño gráfico personal también toman un gran lugar en mi vida, cada noche, cada mañana antes de ir a trabajar, y los fines de semana! Yo diría que soy hiperactivo! Creo que no he dormido algunas veces, utilizo mis noches para crear más!... Pero yo sé que no debo continuar así, por diferentes razones, y la primera es que soy papá desde hace 5 meses, y quiero tener tiempo para Lucie, mi querida hija y para Bénédicte, mi novia. Entonces sé que quiero: me siento vivo creando mi propio arte, siento algo creciendo dentro de miíy sé que quiero dejar (plasmar) mi arte, mis creaciones. Tengo ideas e ideas en mi mente, y quiero hacerlas realidad! Entonces, aquí están mis planes para este año: cambiar mi vida y realmente vivir de mi arte.

Comète voyeuse

Sometimes, people ask me "are you a photographer or graphic designer or a painter?" I always answer that the technics (photography, painting, computer for graphic design...) will be the ways for me to create things that have not been done before. I will definatly navigate between these 3 technics : photo, painting, graphic design, but using these technics to first of all realise new things, things that have not been seen before. I will do everything i can to stay in this lines...
A veces, la gente me pregunta "¿Eres un fotógrafo, un diseñador gráfico o un pintor?" Siempre respondo que las técnicas (fotografía, pintura, diseño gráfico por computador...) son los caminos para crear cosas que no se han hecho antes. Definitivamente navegaré entre estas 3 técnicas: fotografía, pintura y diseño gráfico, pero usando estas técnicas primero que todo para realizar nuevas cosas, cosas que no se hayan visto antes. Haré todo lo que pueda para estar en estas líneas.


Plastic Life:
The plastic Life series stages miniature and hyperrealistic character set in the middle of objects which are part of our day to day to life. These close up photo abolish the distance between the spectator eye and the scene he discovers. He enters into a world strangely similar and different from his. Each photo becomes a poetic and humourisitic screenplay which can be interpreted as the denounciation four time vices.
Plastic Life es una serie de escenas miniatura e hiperrealistas de personajes en el medio de objetos que son parte de nuestro día a día en la vida. Estos cierran fotográfíiamente la distancia entre el ojo del espectador y la escena que él descubre. Él entra en un mundo extrañamente similar y diferente al suyo. Cada foto se convierte en un poético y humorístico guión que puede ser interpretado como la condena para nuestros vicios.


When did it come up to my mind? A friend of my brought me in a shop 4 years ago. A miniature model shop. I guess the serie started that day, up to now. That day, i came through miniature trains, houses, trees and was caught by these little people... I stayed in front of them, starring at them, thinking "well... choose one and shoot him in different places, in different situations!" So, i did it... and well, after a while, i thought "maybe i can get another one..." and then another one, and then... well new photos and new photos became a serie! Thanks to this parisian shop, selling stuff for architects and people passionated by models!
¿Cuándo llego a mi mente? Un amigo me compró en una tienda hace cuatro años, una tienda de modelos en miniatura. Supongo que la serie comenzó aquel día, hasta ahora. Ese día, vine por trenes miniaturas, casas, arboles y fui capturado por esas pequeñas personas... Me quedé en frente de ellos, protagonizando ellos, pensaba "bueno... escoge uno y dispárales en diferentes lugares, en diferentes situaciones!" Entonces, lo hice... y bueno, después un tiempo, pensé "quizás puedo conseguir otra..." y luego otra, y luego... bueno nuevas fotos y nuevas fotos se convirtieron en una serie! Gracias a esa tienda parisina, la venta de cosas para arquitectos y gente apasionada por las figuritas!


Most of the time, i buy these little caracters without thinking about a scene. I just carry them with me... and when i am in some place, and see special stuff around me, inspiration comes naturally! I am like a child! My friends around me laugh sometimes, starring at me: i stop my conversation, take this and that furniture that i discovered, i go and take my caracters, and i compose my still life, i adapt the light, and then i shoot! It is really spontanious, natural, based on humour. I don't want to think too much, elaborating something too deep. I prefer to let go my imagination naturally, and when a joke scene come up to me in my mind, i don't hesitate, i don't wait, i organise my stuff and make it real!
La mayoría de las veces, compro pequeñas figuras sin pensar en la escena. Sólo las llevo conmigo... y cuando estoy en algún lugar, y veo cosas especiales a mi alrededor, la inspiración viene naturalmente! Soy como un niño! Los amigos que me rodean se ríen algunas veces, Protagonizado por mí: paro la conversación, tomo estos y aquellos muebles que descubrí, voy y tomo mis figuritas, y pongo inmóvil mi vida, y adapto la luz, y luego disparo! Es realmente espontáneo, natural, basado en el humor. No quiero pensar mucho, elaborando cosas demasiado profundas. Prefiero dejar andar mi imaginación naturalmente, y cuando una escena de broma llega a mí en mi mente, no lo dudo, no espero, organizo mis cosas y la hago realidad!


Since 2008, i am represented in France by the Galerie Bailly Contemporain, in Paris.
Since 2009, i am represented in Switzerland by the Charly Bailly gallery, in Geneva.

- "Contemporary Photographies", Galerie Bailly, november 2008 to january 2009 (4 big size photos)
Desde 2008, estoy representado en Francia por la Galeie Bailly Contemporain, en París.
Desde 2009, estoy representado en Suiza por la Charly Bailly gallery, en Ginebra.

Tuve 3 exposiciones de Plastic Life en el 2008:
- "La noche de la Fotografía Contemporánea", junio 23 de 2008, París (15 fotos).
- "Plastic Life, exploradores del Eden Park", (12 fotos Plastic Life hechas con Eden PArk, marca francesa de ropa y accesorios)
- "Fotografías Contemporaneass", Bailly Galerie, de noviembre 2008 a enero de 2009 (4 fotos gigantes)



In 2009, Plastic Life events were:
- A big Plastic Life serie made for the big french newspaper Le Figaro: 8 pages & the cover, 17 Plastic Life shots with 17 jewelery watches, in march.
- 2 photos sold on auction sell in april, in the Leclere auction room in Marseille, France.
- "Plastic Life" solo show in Geneva, in the Charly Bailly gallery from July to the end of August (14 photos)
- "Plastic Life" solo show in Geneva in the Mandarin Oriental gallery from September to the end of November (14 photos)
- at the "Show Off", with the Bailly Contemporary gallery (Show Off in an art fair going on in the same time that the FIAC) (2 photos)
- next week, a 15 photos show starting in a place called Negatif Plus in Paris (professionnal printer of photographs famous in Paris), for 3 months.
- all year i had many web and print publications (Esquire, GQ, Le Figaro, Libération...) in many countries (France, US, all Europe, Korea, etc...)

En el 2009 los eventos Plastic Life fueron:
- Una gran Plastic Life serie hecha por el gran periódico francés Le Figaro: 8 páginas y portada, 17 capturas Plastic Life con 17 relojes de joyería, en marzo.
- 2 fotos se venden en una subasta en abril, en el Leclere auction room en Marseille, Francia.
- "Plastic Life" exposición individual en Geneva, en la Charly Bailly gallery desde julio hasta finales de agosto (14 fotos)
- En el "Show Off", con la Bailly Contemporary gallery (Show Off es una feria de arte que se dá al tiempo que FIAC) (2 fotos)
- Próxima semana (diciembre) 15 fotos empezadas a exponerse en un lugar llamado Negatif Plus in Paris (Impresora profesional de famosos fotógrafos en París), por 3 meses.
- Todo el año he tenido varias publicaciones web e impresas (Esquire, GQ, Le Figaro, Libération...) en varios países (France, US, all Europe, Korea, etc...)


Next event:
- A show in London at the AAF (the Affordable Art Fair) in March 2010

A project of Plastic Life book created with Gavin's Clemente Ruiz, french writer, is ready to be printed! We have to find an editor, which is hard in these days; books edition is so much in crisis...

Un proyecto de un Libro de Plastic Life creado con Gavin Clemente Ruiz, escritor francés, está listo para ser impreso! Nosotros tenemos que buscar un editor, que es difícil en estos días; la edición del libro está muy en crisis.


The prices of my photos are fixed by the Gallery Bailly, gallery specialised in contemporary art in Paris:

There are two print sizes, with 2 prices, which are for one print:
- Size One : 80x53 cm, 8 prints, with signature, number of print, plug, date, and authenticity certificate, 2000 euros including the print.
- Size Two : 114x76 cm, 5 prints, with signature, number of print, plug, date, and authenticity certificate, 2600 euros including the print.

Special Skating

Plastic Life is my first photo serie being in galleries.
I am working on 2 new series now since september. But these are just at the very beginning... it will take some time to developp them... these are other subjects!
Plastic Life es mi primera serie que está en galerías.
Ya estoy trabajando en 2 nuevas series desde septiembre. Pero está sólo el principio... que tomará algún tiempo desarrollarlas... esos son otros temas!
